چکیده

We demonstrate by an example that the search for valley-ridge transition (VRT) points used in the commented paper does not always indicate a bifurcation of a reaction path. This was claimed.

Analyses of bifurcation of reaction pathways on a global reaction route map: a case study of gold cluster Au5.

A global reaction route map is generated for Au5 by the anharmonic downward distortion following method in which 5 minima and 14 transition states (TSs) are located. Through vibrational analyses in the 3N - 7 (N = 5) dimensional space orthogonal to the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC), along all the IRCs, four IRCs are found to have valley-ridge transition (VRT) points on the way where a pot...

Secondary quasiperiodicity in the peroxidase-oxidase reaction

Secondary quasiperiodicity (period-doubled oscillations modulated by an incommensurate frequency), or ”Q2,” is the temporal manifestation of quasiperiodic motion on period-doubled tori. The existence of this regime in a chemical reaction was first predicted (T.V. Bronnikova, W.M. Schaffer and L.F. Olsen, J. Chem. Phys., 1996, 105, 10849) in the course of numerical explorations of a detailed mod...

Gas-phase catalytic oxidation of CO by Au(2-).

Chemical reactivity of transition metal clusters toward various molecules in gas phase has been a subject of numerous investigations,1,2 motivated by search of analogues to adsorption mechanisms and reactivity at bulk metal surfaces. However, the full catalytic cycle, involving detection of a product molecule XY, as a result of reaction between reactants X and Y in the presence of the metal clu...

The golden pathway to thiolate-stabilized nanoparticles: following the formation of gold(I) thiolate from gold(III) chloride.

Pathways for the formation of gold thiolate complexes from gold(III) chloride precursors AuCl(4)(-) and AuCl(3) are examined. This work demonstrates that two distinct reaction pathways are possible; which pathway is accessible in a given reaction may depend on factors such as the residue group R on the incoming thiol. Density functional theory calculations using the BP86 functional and a polari...

Comment on Rate coefficients for photoinitiated NO 2 unimolecular decomposition : energy dependence in the threshold regime [ Chem . Phys . Lett . 358 ( 2002 ) 71 ]

Recently, Wittig and co-workers have published rate coefficients kðEÞ for the unimolecular decomposition of photoinitiated NO2 close to the dissociation threshold [Chem. Phys. Lett. 358 (2002) 71]. They found out that kðEÞ for low angular momentum J exhibits a strong increase within 25 cm 1 of the reaction threshold. The authors emphasize that their experimental results are surprising and canno...
